Dramatic light

A stunningly dramatic sunrise from Shaldon Beach below The Ness in South Devon with the breakwater and lighthouse in the foreground.

This particular morning was heavily overcast, and the likelihood of getting even the slightest glimpse of the sunrise looked fairly slim as I drove to my chosen destination with little hope of a successful morning.

A little after sunrise however, a small gap in the cloud passed overhead, heading for the distant horizon and carried swiftly by the brisk wind. I waited and watched as slowly the light improved, and after a dozen or so images were taken the light faded again.

It always amazes me how quickly weather conditions tend to change first thing in the morning, and this was one morning that it worked to my benefit.
