No longer mine

Wheal Betsy, a long derelict mine building north of Tavistock now cared for by The National Trust. Closed since 1867 it now stands as a memorial to a time in history when technology was unknown.

Photographed here just before dawn with the hills of Dartmoor National Park silhouetted on the horizon by the pastel colours of the rising sun, you can get a feel for the difficult and simple lives of those that worked the mine in its operational days.
