Where darkness never falls

During an early morning trip to the Isle of Portland to catch the sunrise I discovered this large pale coloured boulder on the cliff top in front of Portland Bill Lighthouse.

Whilst setting up the camera to take the image the sun rose above the horizon and the lighthouse blinked its last few flashes of light as the day dawned. At this moment it occurred to me that the boulder was positioned in such a way that it is almost permanently illuminated by either artificial or natural light, with only brief periods of darkness during the rotation of the lighthouse beacon.
